New Date: Update on NIH funding and application processes

Join this presentation by NIH officials to learn about the latest developments in funding, reviews of applications, and how and where funding opportunities will be posted. The presentation will include a specific discussion of funding opportunities for trainees and early-career investigators.
Dr. Emerald Nguyen is a Program Official in the Division of Behavioral and Social Research at the National Institute on Aging at the National Institutes of Health. She manages a scientific portfolio that encompasses research on how various population-level factors impact health and wellbeing across the lifespan, particularly during mid- and later-life. She also co-leads the Centers on the Demography and Economics of Aging program. Prior to coming to the National Institutes of Health in 2017, Dr. Nguyen was a Science and Technology Policy Fellow sponsored by the American Sociological Association and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She received her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California-Davis.
Dr. Laura Major is a Training Officer in NIA’s Office of Strategic Extramural Programs (OSEP), housed in the Division of Extramural Activities. Laura coordinates institutional training as well as clinician-scientist and established investigator career development programs for NIA. Prior to joining OSEP, Laura served as a Program Officer in NIA’s Division of Behavioral and Social Research (BSR), where she managed a grant portfolio focused on institutional training and physical activity interventions. Laura’s DrPH in Health Behavior was awarded by The George Washington University. Laura received an MPH in Health Behavior from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and a BA in Anthropology and Psychology from Dickinson College.This event is co-hosted with the Center for Healthcare Policy and Research.
